Walden is a community built by volunteers, providing countless ways to make a difference. Whatever your interests or availability, there's a place for you to contribute.
Volunteer with Local Non-Profits
Our local non-profit organizations rely on residents who are willing to give their time, talents, and energy to keep our community programs, green spaces, and gathering places thriving. Organizations like Bachman Community Center, McCoy Farm & Gardens, and Walden's Ridge Civic League are always looking for volunteers to help support their mission.
Join Walden's Ridge Emergency Services
Walden's Ridge Emergency Services is a volunteer fire department that also operates a ropes rescue program, offering hands-on opportunities to serve and protect our community. If you're looking for a way to give back through emergency response, WRES welcomes new volunteers.
Support the Walden's Ridge Guild
The Walden's Ridge Guild is a charitable and service organization whose purpose is to promote the welfare of the residents of the community and to cooperate with other organizations in this endeavor. For more information, email patriciadavislaw@gmail.com.
Serve on a Citizen Advisory Committee
Residents can also shape our community by joining one of Walden's citizen advisory committees, several of which are given a budget to bring their ideas to life. Our Parks & Recreation Committee leads trail work throughout our green spaces; the Roads & Safety Committee sponsors the Slow Down Walden campaign to improve neighborhood safety; and the Environmental Committee hosts an annual rain barrel sale to promote sustainability.
Join the W Road Litter Cleanup
Walden hosts the W Litter Cleanup, a quarterly Sunday morning event where the historic, winding W Road, listed on the Historic Road Registry, is closed to traffic just for volunteers. Participants enjoy a peaceful walk along this scenic road, with its dramatic hairpin curves, while helping keep it clean. It's a family-friendly, low-commitment way to give back to the community.
