The Town of Walden contracts out sanitation with Republic Services. This service covers one trash cart, and one recycle cart. For additional carts (payment required) or cart replacements, please contact Republic Services at 423-867-4650.
Please follow the guidelines below to allow for a smooth garbage pickup process:

- Please have your garbage can at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
- All bagged trash is to be placed inside the can.
- No trash may be placed on the lid or outside the can.
- Please do not overload the can as this causes problems for the truck.
- Place the can within 2 feet of the curb.
- Place the receptacle with the front towards the road.
- Do not place close to mailboxes or other objects.
As part of Walden's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, we ask that you follow the recycling guidelines.
Acceptable Items
- Plastics: Recycle plastic #1, #2, and #5. Look at the bottom of containers for the number inside the recycling arrows. Please make sure they are empty, clean, and dry.
- Metal Cans: Recycle all beverage metal cans - steel, tin, bi-metal, and aluminum.
- Cardboard, Newspaper & Magazines: All paper products, including newspapers, magazines, and cardboard.
- Paper Food Containers & Cartons: Juice boxes, egg cartons, ice cream and milk cartons, and cereal and pasta boxes.
- Paper: Envelopes, office paper, junk mail, greeting cards, and file folders. Shredded paper should be put in a paper bag.
